The Rotary Club of Belize, Sunrise has organized a Back to School Telethon on July 25th, 2020. Our mandate is to improve the social environment of Belize by partnering with the community to effect a positive change in the lives of many, particularly our youths. Through our persistent efforts, we aspire to strengthen the much-needed social infrastructure that will allow our children – our future – to grow in a healthy, supportive, and conducive environment.
The outbreak of COVID 19 has had a material impact on Belize, especially on vulnerable and marginalized groups in our community. It has been reported by the Government of Belize that upwards of 40,000 people within our community have lost their jobs because of this pandemic. This group includes parents who are now unable to equip their children with the basic necessary materials to return to school in August 2020.
